After 12+ years of a unique professional career of brand building, digital marketing, and political strategy—Ashley sits at the intersection of culture, politics, and activism. After serving as the Ohio Digital Director for the 2012 re-election campaign of President Barack Obama, she left the private sector to focus her consulting efforts on building political power in the communities that need it the most. She has advised non-profits, campaigns, and corporations on strategic communications, digital engagement and political mobilization to encourage action through integrated online and offline strategies.
Ashley has been recognized by Advertising Age as one of 40 under 40 Marketing Leaders, one of "50 Women Who Made the 2012 Election” by the Huffington Post, and "Top 20 in their 20's" by Crain’s Chicago Business.
Prior to her foray into politics, Ashley began her strategy career at Procter & Gamble leading early efforts in digital and social media for major brands such as Pampers, Tide, Secret, and Gillette—which led to her role as the sole social strategist for the billion dollar brand, Pantene.
In 2018, she served as the Resist & Win Digital Director for MoveOn.org and led the digital mobilization strategy to fight back against “Trump-ism” and to lead the charge on taking back control of Congress. Through her independent consultancy she worked with campaigns, organizations, and PACs leading mobilization efforts to elect a record number of Black women to Congress.
A few of her additional past roles include: Vice President of Digital Experience at Upshot, First Vice President of Customer Engagement at Amalgamated Bank, Vice President of Digital & Creative at 270 Strategies, Global Social Analytics & Listening Manager for Beam Global Spirits & Wine, and Social Strategist at Weber Shandwick.
Ashley is an Ohioan through and through—born and raised in Cincinnati, but now currently based in Chicago.
